Description
Confuciusornis sanctus was a common crow sized bird often seen by riversides of early Cretaceous Asia, approx 125 – 120 million years ago. They fed on nuts and seeds using heavy toothless beaks and lived in trees, using their large finger claws to climb on the bark. Males sported twin tail feathers. They are the oldest bird known to have a beak.
