0753 Eruptions on Charon
Image information
Description
It is suspected that Pluto's moon Charon could have a subterranean ocean. (crystalline water ice & various ammonia hydrates have been detected).Occasionally cracks rapidly form in the crust and water gushes out and crystallises. Subterranean ocean is possible due to radioactive decay in the interior and the presence of ammonia, which astronomers suspect.
