1816 Rising Sun

I saw this rising sun and wanted to do a painting of it for several reasons, apart from the beauty of the scene in itself. The sea looks blue but the sky is red - how is this possible? Above, out of sight of this scene, the sky is blue and this is what we are seeing reflected, due to the choppy nature of the water, which is also causing the red sky to be reflected in the distance, unseen by us. Once the sun gets higher the sea will then reflect the sunlight. The sun looks squashed; this is due to refracted light. Lastly the clouds on the horizon look as if they are in the sea; this is due to the curvature of the Earth. (sorry "Flat Earthers"!)
