Jurassic Hasty Bank

Hasty Bank is a modern ridge on the edge of the North York Moors, but its rocks were laid down during the Middle Jurassic, around 175 million years ago. This reconstruction shows a humid lowland forest near the coast, where an early stegosaur browses among lush ferns beside a quiet pool. Towering conifers, ginkgos, and cycads filled the landscape, which was shaped by rivers, deltas, and seasonal flooding. Fossils found at Hasty Bank—especially plants and dinosaur remains—reveal glimpses of this long-lost world.
