Middle Jurassic Bajocian, approx. 170 million years ago Information: Above water: Pterosaurs: Dimorphodon Dinosaur: Megalosaurus Trees are a type of Araucaria, monkey puzzle tree. Underwater: Ammonites at left and centre of image: Stephanoceras (male smaller and female larger). Large ammonite behind seaweed at right: Lytoceras - group of silvery ammonites left of image: Hyperlioceras Heteromorphs: Large solo one on sea floor is a Spiroceras annunatum At left loosely coiled Spiroceras orbygni mating, and others attached to seaweed. Other animals: School of belemnites at right of image. Nautilus rises from the deep (background) to feed on dead lobsters, etc. An ichthyosaur lurks in the distance. At right, a floating log is covered with crinoids (pentacrinites). At left a log which became waterlogged has sunk, with dying crinoids (they cannot survive on seafloor). Lobsters, starfishes, sea urchins on seafloor.
