1224 Carboniferous

The large millipede is an Arthropleura. Within this image are different species of Lepidodendron trees, with taller ones in the far distance (growing on a small hill); nearer are more squat types. The trees at left back of the painting are a type of Cordaites. The spiky plant in front on the left is a young Lepidodendron. Along the lake margins at the back are stands of Calamites. An amphibian rests by the water margins.
